We made this page, so read it that way. Every price on it is Airtable’s own — checked against their pricing and support pages — and the second-to-last section is what they do better. It works out to around a quarter of what you’re paying now.

“There’s nothing to unlock” is only impressive beside the list of what they lock. The contrast is the argument.
Nothing here is on a meter.
Airtable counts your records, your automation runs, your API calls and your attachments. Every one of those counters is also a price. Cross the record cap and there’s no middle plan to land on — you go from $20 a seat to $45, a 125% jump, triggered by one row. Here, the only number is how many editors are on your team.

On Airtable, adding data changes your bill. On Tabla, adding data changes nothing — the whole positioning, made by someone else’s price list.

And it’s faster. A 50,000-row table opens in Tabla in about a third of a second and sorts in a fraction of one — the same table takes Airtable several seconds to open, and several more to sort. Roughly 11× quicker to a grid you can use, timed in the browser on both live sites.

The bill attaches to a workspace, not an account. Start a second one and it’s billed all over again.

We’re not trying to be your automation tool.
You already picked one. Point a webhook at it — a quick click, the exact conditions you want — and every fire lands with the before and the after, so your platform never goes back to ask what changed. Unmetered, signed, retried, and every delivery replayable. Make, n8n, anything with a URL. Airtable’s automations are metered; ours aren’t, because there’s nothing to meter — a webhook just fires.
What we left out, and why.
A comparison that only flatters itself isn’t worth reading. So here’s what Airtable has that we don’t — some left out by design, because a database should stay a database, and some simply on the way.
- On the wayForms — a clean way to collect records from people who don’t have an account. We’re building it.
- By designInterface Designer — Airtable lets you build an app on top of your data. Tabla is a database, on purpose; app-building is a different product, and not the one we set out to make.
- By designIn-app automation & two-way sync — rather than a weaker automation engine bolted inside the database, we fire signed, logged webhooks to the platform you already run — Make, n8n, Zapier, your own code. Those tools are far more capable than anything a database should try to be, and they keep every integration in one place.
- On the wayDashboards — charts and summaries across your tables. It’s on the roadmap.
- On the wayTimeline & Gantt views — we shipped the four views teams open every day first: grid, calendar, gallery, kanban. More can follow as people ask for them.
- By designA template gallery — we’d rather point you at a few real, working example databases than a library of things to delete.

- On the wayField-level edit permissions — Airtable can lock an individual field from editing (it doesn’t hide the value). A simple version of the same is on our list.
